MARGARETH DOORDUIN (DE LIER 1974), GRADUATED IN 2006 FROM THE ROYAL ACADAMY OF ART, IN THE HAGUE. HER WORK NAMELY EXIST OF ANONYMOUS PORTRAITS, WHICH REPRESENT A HUMAN CONDITION OR EMOTION. EVERY PORTRAIT TELLS HIS OWN INTRIGUING STORY. “IN MY WORK, HUMAN EMOTIONS AND THE SITUATION IN WHICH WE CAN FIND OURSELVES, PLAY A LEADING PART. FOR THIS I DRAW FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCES, BUT ALSO FROM WHAT I SEE AROUND ME IN OTHERS. THE PEOPLE IN MY PHOTOGRAPHS ARE NOT, OR HARDLY, RECOGNISABLE. INSTEAD OF DIRECTLY TRYING TO IDENTIFY THE PERSON ON THE PICTURE, WHAT WE NATURALLY TEND TO DO, I WANT PEOPLE TO LOOK BEYOND THAT. IT IS NOT ABOUT WHAT YOU RECOGNISE, BUT ABOUT WHAT YOU DO NOT SEE, AND ONLY CAN FEEL AND EXPERIENCE”
